AFTER
MARKET
Project
Description
AFTERMARKET is an audio/visual installation that aims to explore the idea of creative freedom through the ever growing rise of hyper-industrialization. With the use of vintage CRT televisions and oscilloscopes, I want to inspire the audience to see the freedom that comes with a lack of typical opportunity. Rick Rubin talks about how creativity comes from outside the mind, with the mind being the antenna that receives signals of creativity. This “awareness” is more prominent in children because of their ability to live in the moment without preconceived notions, painting pictures and stories in their mind to fill gaps within their reality. AFTERMARKET targets this idea from a unique perspective, that as opportunities to fit into society's preconceived notions becomes increasingly difficult, we tend to choose alternative areas to develop and create.
