WHY
It is of no surprise that our world is and always will exist in a hyper-capitalistic society that fixates on industrialization development. It is a common view amongst many artists that the increase in industrialization and mass production has hindered people's ability to create meaningful art without compromising for financial reasons. My project aims to address the idea that, as the world becomes more and more industrialized and opportunities for success in all forms of business dwindle, people will choose to focus more on enjoying life through a creative lens instead of sacrificing all of their time to slaving away at a typical 9 to 5. Within the depths of a hyper-industrialized society exists immense freedom to pursue creative endeavors without the pressures of "what is the right path?" If there is no right path, people with choose authenticity and creativity.
HOW
The piece contains 3 CRT TV's, all of which are on a smaller scale. (9-13"), 2 oscilloscopes (designed for observational studies, however, can be used in creative design). These will be set in a TV stack setup and will all be functional. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, I will create 3 separate videos targeting different areas of creativity within industrialized society. My goal is to make the 3 videos work in conjunction with one another while having their own narrative. The stylistic design choice is "new utilitarian"." I will also create an audio project that will work in conjunction with the 3 separate videos. This audio project will play on top of the videos and the oscilloscopes will be targeting two separate instruments mimicking the audio waves and synthesizing them into an image form. (These designs will not be uniform and instead be entirely organic based on the music.) It will last for approximately 3-4 minutes and will be heard using headphones.
