WEEK: 3/4
RESEARCH AND PLANNING

I spent all of week 3 finding the resources to fix create my video game inside unreal engine. I initially found a YouTube video that focused on creating a lidar game from scratch. However, I found that creating a lidar game from was not the most efficient way to create my art project. So, I found an alternative plugin that had developed a radar scanner for quicker implementation.

WEEKS 5/6:
WORKING IN UNREAL ENGINE 5.4

I spent week 5/6 working in Unreal Engine with the Lidar plugin that I had found the week prior. I found myself struggling with the gun implementation. I worked through some blueprints and discovered that the meshes I was using were the defaults rather than the plugin versions. I switched that over and found some success with the gun working. However, I am struggling with getting my player to walk around while having the plugin running.

WEEK 7:
FIXING MOVEMENT PROBLEMS IN UNREAL

I spent this week working towards improving the movement problems from last week. This was a difficult work around and took me a few days to figure out. I ended up receiving some help from my internship manager (he's very capable in UE5) and I was able to update the inputs and thus fixed the problem. (Copied over the demo's movement blueprints into the BP_FirstPerson blueprint.

WEEK 8:
RESEARCHING LIGHTING TECHNIQUES

This week I have been focusing on the lighting aspect of my project. I want to look at all the different options I have for lighting. I am leaning towards an HDMI plug in RGB box. These are typically used for console setups or movie rooms in order to further bring an audience into whatever experience they are having. Since this is exactly what I want to do with my lights, it is a uniquely perfect fit for my project.

Week 9:
Begin Search for TV / Waiting on Lights

I am still waiting on the light box I have ordered. Due to pricing issues, I had to order a cheaper version of the Philips Hue that is unfortunately taking longer to ship than expected. In the meantime, I am working on finding a vintage TV and purchasing an HDMI to RCA converter so the game can be played on the screen during week 10.

Week 10:
Lighting Problems + TV Arrival!

This week I received all of the materials I had ordered. However, a key piece for the lighting implementation was the hue bridge and unfortunately they shipped the wrong product so none of my lighting could work. So, I had to send the majority of stuff back. What did arrive, however, was my HDMI to CRT converter. I also got my CRT television and lights.
